Clemente Clubman Project

In 2004 another dream became reality when the 18th and last clubman that I designed became a road registered vehicle. But it goes further than just that. In fact 17 of the 18 vehicles were built by other clubman enthusiasts who wanted to build their own but did not have either the facilities, knowledge or expertise of how to go about it.

I designed a course whereby these participants became students under my supervision and training. The course was planned to not only give the students knowledge in how to build a body using composites but the whole manufacturing process of creating a complete vehicle from the ground up.

A vehicle engineer was engaged to consult at various build stages to make sure all processes were in accordance with up to date Australian Design Rules. He then signed off on the final stage of each vehicle and helped in the registration inspection process.

Additional features, that aren't generally in other clubman type vehicles were built into the Clementè, such as adjustable steering wheel, lockable boot, 2 lockable glove boxes, adjustable pedal box, heater and a special heat resistant exhaust cover.

In the near future, the Clementè clubman will be homologated as a racing class of vehicle. I have plans for a larger sports car in the future as well as another clubman project.
